By a vote of 70% of eligible members, the ASPS bylaws have been updated effective November 1, 2021 and now include podiatrists who have surgical privileges at a licensed accredited health care facility and certified by ABPM, along with those certified by ABFAS, as Fellows of ASPS and those who are qualified by ABPM, along with those qualified by ABFAS, as Associates.

Please note, the qualification of having active surgical privileges has not changed and is required for Fellow and Associate member categories.  Certification or qualification alone does not guarantee Fellow or Associate status.  Podiatrists without surgical privileges, certification, or qualification with an interest in podiatric surgical education may apply for membership in the Affiliate category.

ASPS is not a certifying or surgical board.  We are a membership based society and our mission is to “provide accessible quality surgical education for podiatric surgeons and all members of the APMA with an interest in surgery.”

Proof of surgical privileges must be included with new member applications and all new members must be approved by the Board of Directors.
